Bags

Ok, super easy filler post.  I’m going to start a new posting regimen where I get a new post up for each of my blogs once per week.  I need to add some activity to these puppies.

A little while ago, I was doing some major work on getting to the goldcap.  During that time, I decided I needed to make my various underleveled alts work more for me.  To that end, I took my second, idle Hunter and got here leveled to 65.  Before I got her leveled from 50, I powerleveled her Tailoring.  I know it’s an unusual profession for a Hunter, but it’s an alt that will never see serious play and I wanted to start playing in the Tailoring market.

Long story short, I’ve been buying Netherweave Cloth at 6g/stack and lower.  Until the last two weeks or so, NW bags (which use exactly one stack of NW and one rune thread) were selling for 10g+ each.  Lately, they are around the 8g range (I’ve seen them as low as 6g).  Despite this fact, they remain a nice little side money-making venture.  If you have a Tailor or an idle alt, I highly recommend setting this up.  If you don’t care about higher level pattens (such as Frostweave Bags), you can stop at level 50 and still get high enough skill to make the bags.

If you’re serious about doing this, you can also use some free time to do a few laps of Outland and just advertise via macro in the General channel that you are buying Netherweave cloth at Xg/stack.  There are quite a few people leveling alts in Outland, and if you can save them the time and hassle of shuffling off their spare Netherweave, you can make some nice money.  Plus, you get to have an alt flying around on a carpet!

The interesting part about Netherweave Bags is that with Cataclysm coming, all those new Worgen and Goblins are going to need bags.  Demand for them will most certainly rise, and I’m expecting prices to follow.  What isn’t clear is whether Netherweave will dry up in Cataclysm, or whether it will be in supply, but expensive, from all of those Worgen/Gobbos running through Outland for at least 5 levels or so.

I’m probably going to work on pounding out the last 3 levels on my Hunter to get to Northrend.  At the least, she should be able to work on her Sons rep at that point for the Glacial Bag recipe.  Apparently they are moderately profitable still (and still have a cooldown).  It seems like a lot of fruitless work to set up yet another Hunter, but at least it’s mindless work.  If I can get her to 75 by the time Cataclysm shows up, she’ll at least have the higher level trainer patterns available to her.

More to come in the near future!
